How do these tips differ from the beginner guide?

The beginner guide owns mission one: lock a base class, fill empty seats, read the enemy preview, match elemental ammo, drop Casual or Standard. These Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 tips assume that loop is already boring. The remaining wipes are process errors — dry magazines, a Siren that escaped, a downed Marine who timed out, and a rocket into a crouched back.

Tips are not a tier list

There is no verified “best tip” percentage on this wiki. A Marauder who already crouches needs the Siren line more than another crouch lecture. A solo player with AI fill needs the crate line more than a four-stack spacing drill. Read the row that matches the wipe you just had.

The new hard rule versus the first game

Launch-window recap of Cold Iron’s Discord Q&A: a fully dead Marine spectates the rest of the mission. They discussed a later pickup fantasy; it did not ship. That is why revive is a tip, not a nice-to-have. The beginner guide still marks full-resurrect UI as TBA on the pickup prompt itself — this page only needs the outcome: do not let the down become a spectator.

Once that distinction is clear, ammo is the first habit that still fails on Standard.

How do I keep ammo from running dry mid-swarm?

Primary magazines run dry. The infinite sidearm exists so you are never unarmed in a vent — not so you can ignore crates. Launch-window beginner footage treats ammo boxes as hold points: fight the swarm next to the crate, top off, then push. Health kits sit next to those crates. One kit per human Marine. You carry one at a time.

Health kits next to ammo crates on a hold point
If this happensDo thisDo not
Primary clicks empty mid-swarmSwap to the infinite sidearm, then rotate to the crateKnife a Runner “to save ammo” while the crate is 10 meters behind you
Hold is away from a boxFall back to the crate, then re-take the doorPush the next room on a dry mag “because the objective pinged”
You already hold a health kit and see anotherHeal-then-swap if nobody else needs itHoard both; a downed Marine gets nothing
Elemental mags are emptyRestock Incendiary / Electric / Cryo / Piercing at the crate — elementsKeep dumping the default type into plates
Horde wave between cratesBudget the mag for the hold you can restockEmpty the last box “to finish the wave” before the rotation

The sidearm is the crate’s partner

You carry a primary, an infinite sidearm, and a Signature (Duelist: two primaries). The sidearm is the dry-mag answer. Upgrade the gun you actually fire; do not park day-one resources on a pistol tree. Signatures (Smartgun, Volcan, rockets) are for the job the primary cannot cover — they are not a reason to skip the box.

Kits are team ammo

One health kit per human. If you already hold one and find another, heal first, then pick up the spare. If a teammate is empty, leave it. Greedy double-picks are how a downed Marine has nothing to self-stabilize after the revive. AI fill (Alpha / Beta / Gamma) does not replace that human-kit rule.

A full magazine does not matter if a Siren just called the next room.

Who should I shoot first — and who do I revive first?

Kill order beats DPS arguments. Siren calls and flees — shoot it first when it is free to run. Exploder detonates near Marines and leaves acid; do not stand in the corpse, and do not pop one on a crouched stack. Warden is melee plus acid range — survive first if it is already in your face. Harbinger (Pathogen) pins a Marine. Full roster: enemies.

Four-stack ambushed by Xenomorphs in co-op
  • Do01Name the body that is calling or pinning before you dump the mag into trash
  • Do02Siren free to flee → delete it before it prints reinforcements
  • Do03Exploder in the lane → detonate it off the stack, then step out of the puddle
  • Do04Warden / Harbinger already in melee or on a Marine → survive / interrupt first, then return to the Siren
  • Do05Teammate downed → revive before you chase a Warden into a vent
  • Do06Downed Marine who is about to die out → that seat becomes a spectator for the rest of the mission at launch
  • Do07Health kit on the floor next to the crate → leave it if you already carry one and a human is empty
  • Do08Casual / Standard → practice this order without friendly-fire pressure; Intense+ adds the crouch tax

Revive is the timer; dead is the wipe

You can revive a downed Marine. Launch-window Cold Iron Q&A recap: once they are fully dead, they spectate. Plan Extreme / Insane around that. Medic’s Bedside Manner (2× revive speed) and Trauma Station are insurance, not a later full resurrect. Do not treat “I will pick them up after this Warden” as a plan.

Solo still has a rescue problem

Empty seats fill with AI bots. Bots can go down. You still want a kit that can revive without a Specialist combo you have not unlocked. Machinist deployables hold a lane while you pick someone up; Medic is the dedicated hole. A four-Duelist stack looks fine until the first down.

The sequel QoL that makes the four-stack survivable on Intense is crouch — learn it before you raise the slider.

When should I crouch — and how do I stop friendly fire?

Crouch is new versus Fireteam Elite 1. On Casual and Standard it is optional posture. From Intense up, launch-window class guides and Cold Iron Q&A recaps treat friendly fire as on, and high-tier notes say abilities can also hit allies. Four bodies in a corridor is how a Marauder rocket becomes a wipe. Difficulty owns the slider; this page owns the habit.

RuleWhat it means in a swarm
FF on from IntenseYour pulse rifle and grenades hit Marines. Casual / Standard are the teaching steps
Front crouches, back shootsThe Marine at the choke drops profile so the gunline is not a teammate’s cause of death
AI bots deal 0 FF to youAlpha / Beta / Gamma will not cook you. You can still damage them — watch your own mag
Uncontrolled targeting ≈ no FFQ&A recap: Machinist gas turret / sentries, and the Marauder reload-rocket perk, do not FF
You still aim the rocketBlast Cannon, Titan Rockets, grenades, and flamethrowers you steer are the wipe tools
Flame FF was cut vs AFE1Recap: environmental fire / flame numbers were dialed down — still do not hose a crouched ally
Spacing is the fourth-Marine taxThree-stack habits from the first game fail. Hold separate angles. Do not strafe across a crouched back

Crouch to hold, stand to rotate

The point of crouch is a gunline, not stealth. Do not become a sitting duck for Runners and Crawlers. Crouch while the stack is committed to a door. Stand when you rotate to the next crate. Call the corner out loud on a mixed-platform party — crossplay voice chat is listed on storefronts for a reason.

Marauder is the friendly-fire class until you crouch

Blast Cannon and Titan Rockets clear packs. They also clear teammates. Grenadier-style Specialist mixes inherit that problem. Machinist sentries are the documented exception. Your Signature is not. If the Fireteam will not crouch, do not bring the rocket kit onto Extreme.

The remaining wipes are a short list. Scan it before you confirm the next drop.

Which mistakes still waste a wipe?

Each row is a process error after you already know how to drop. This is not a hidden elite name and not a second beginner checklist.

One habit that fixes most of them

Before you confirm: briefing factions match your magazines, difficulty is one you can already clear, and you know who is reviving. During the drop: crate, Siren, revive, crouch. That is the whole tips loop.

Next: apply the same habits on the difficulty rule set, then party up on crossplay if the Fireteam is split across Steam, Epic, PS5, and Xbox.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 tips FAQ

What is the most important Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 tip?

Match ammo to the briefing, kill Sirens first, revive a downed Marine before they die out, and crouch the front of the gunline from Intense up. A dead Marine spectates the rest of the mission at launch.

Does crouch matter?

Yes — it is a sequel QoL add. On Intense, Extreme, and Insane it keeps your gunline from hitting Marines in front of you. Crouch to hold a choke; stand to rotate.

Can I resurrect a dead teammate mid-mission?

You can revive a downed Marine. Launch-window Cold Iron Q&A recap: a fully dead player spectates the rest of the run. There is no comeback mechanic at launch. Do not skip the pickup.

Do AI bots friendly-fire me?

No. Recap of the same Q&A: AI teammates deal no damage to you. You can still damage them. Human friendly fire switches on at Intense and above.

Which abilities skip friendly fire?

Recap: abilities you do not aim — Machinist gas turret and sentries, plus the Marauder perk that auto-fires a rocket on reload — deal no friendly damage. Rockets, grenades, and flamethrowers you steer still hit allies.

How do ammo crates work?

Treat them as hold points. Fight next to the box, top off, then push. The infinite sidearm covers a dry primary. Health kits near crates are scarce — exact spawn and carry limits stay TBA.

Should I always kill Sirens first?

Yes when the Siren is free to call and flee. If a Warden or Harbinger is already in melee or pinning a Marine, survive or interrupt first, then return to the Siren.

Is this a beginner guide?

No. First-drop loop lives on the beginner guide. This page is ammo, rescue, crouch, and the mistakes that still wipe after that loop is automatic.
